Lovely bit of typography for Daniel Savio’s eponymous new album.
This is a blog post about automated cat feeders. Sort of. But bear with me, because I’m also trying to make a point about software. —

I like the little ‘Learn more’ tooltip on Air B&B.

Then there’s the problem with buying a 3-series. Go on, try it. Engage your internet, go to BMW’s website and try to make sense of what’s there. You can’t. Not till you’ve found your reading glasses, and then gone to Boots to buy a pair that is even more powerful. And even when you are able to read the microdot typeface, your computer won’t have the plugin necessary to enjoy any of the site’s features. Not that you will understand what’s on offer anyway, because it’s either flowery rubbish or techno gobbledygook. — Jeremy Clarkson’s thoughts on the BMW website, from his review of the new 3-series in The Sunday Times (full article requires subscription).
Kudos to Santander who’ve added some excitement to the ISA market with their Major ISA. You read it right, if Rory McIlroy wins a golf major, they pay an extra 0.1% interest! Fair enough, it’s not much, but it’ll make me pay more attention to the golf! Shame it’s not 0.1% less if he doesn’t win, but then maybe that would actually be gambling…
It’s 2012, you can find anything on the internet, right? I’ve been looking for a dishwasher to fit into a very tight slot in an original pantry cupboard we have in our new flat. Wanting to make sure that it fits, I’ve been trying to check the back of any prospective dishwasher to see where the pipes come out, how much clearance there is, what side they enter/exit on, etc.
A problem that other people must have come across, surely? Well, if they have, the retailers haven’t thought of it - because can you find any decent pics of the rear of a dishwasher? No. Let alone a dishwasher I’m actually interested in!
Try a Google image search. Any useful pics there? Not really. I looked high and low, but it’s mainly just animals sat in dishwashers.
BUT - then I found some. Thank you Appliance Reviews. You take photos of the back of dishwashers. I can now see what I’m getting. So happy was I, to find these pics, that I thought I’d blog it here. If, like me, you want to see what the rear of a dishwasher looks like, they’re lifesavers.

Gratuitous shot of rear of a Beko dishwasher!
HIIIIIIYAAAAA *oof*
Given they’re a phone manufacturer, and that their website is generally great, I was surprised by the absolute fail of the HTC.com homepage on my iPhone. Yes, that is a massive gap at the top, and broken bits aplenty.
If ever a site could benefit from responsive design… come on HTC!
I really like the clarity of the Luminosity Brain Training Program Builder (!?). Nice tube-map style progress indicator and big, bold checkbox-buttons.
Here’s a really clean and straight-forward filter and sort from Nest.co.uk. It just works.
Usability Hell: Why You Should Delete 90% of your iPhone / Android Apps -
If you’re like I was, you use about 20% of your iPhone / Android apps, 80% of the time (Pareto Principle)…
Looks like it’s Asus vs. Optimus Prime…

Now, I’ll just save this document as version 2… Agghhh, where’s “Save as” gone?
It seems like they got rid of it!!
